Sony Ericsson C905 Vs LG Renoir – the Fight for Mobile Phone Supremacy Begins

October 4th, 2011 No comments

Camera phones have come of age in 2008, as we finally get to see the battle between camera phones and digital cameras starting to sway in the favour of mobile phones. Let’s meet two of the mobile phones leading the charge: the Sony Ericsson C905 and the LG Renoir.

Camera phones in history – the world created by Sony Ericsson

It’s rather apt, really, that Sony Ericsson are the one of the companies at the forefront of the coming paradigm shift in camera-equipped mobile phones. After all, it was they who began it all, long ago, in 2002. Lest we forget, they were the first manufacturer to unleash a mobile phone that’d got a camera in it, within the British marketplace. That phone was the Sony Ericsson P800, but it didn’t get the mass market penetration Sony Ericsson would’ve liked, because an incredibly (for the time) high-end smartphone. But, their most iconic device ever was about to be unveiled, and that one DID get huge mass market appeal. It was the Sony Ericsson T610, and it really did change the game. There was a handset that stood out amongst the crowd of all the other mobile phones it was up against. It was small, it was slim, and customers went MENTAL for it. And, let us remember that the Sony Ericsson T610 also had an integrated camera, and that it was actually the first handset to go to the wider market, and make people think, ‘Wait a sec, we really do want our mobile phones to have cameras in ’em!’

However, Sony Ericsson aren’t alone in the camera phone world, and a relative latecomer to the world of top-end mobile phones is challenging them for dominance, with the gorgeous LG Renoir…

LG Renoir – the arty side of mobile phones

As well as camera phones, touchscreen mobile phones have been the big success story in 2008, and now, there’s a brilliant one on the market that also has an 8 megapixel camera: the gorgeous LG Renoir. I’ll be honest, right off the bat here, and say that Renoir is a pretty apt name for it, since it is, in the eyes of many, a work of art! But then, the photos coming out of this mobile phone will be, too, since the LG Renoir combines that 8 megapixel sensor with incredible Schneider-Kreuznach lenses, some truly superb video modes, HSDPA internet access (for uploading or blogging pictures) and GPS (for geotagging pictures). Put simply, the LG Renoir is one of the best-looking, and coolest, mobile phones out there, making it and the Sony Ericsson C905 pretty evenly matched foes.

Sony Ericsson C905 – the ultimate camera phone?

You just can’t deny power, and one thing is for certain: the Sony Ericsson C905 has much more sheer power than any other mobile phones you can get in the UK. How come? Well, it’s the first camera phone to be unveiled in the UK that’s got an 8 megapixel camera. That’s right. EIGHT. That’s a disturbingly massive pixel resolution, and it means that with the Sony Ericsson C905, you have the ability to take jaw-dropping images. Oh, and on top of that, remember that Sony Ericsson have packed it full of Cyber-Shot brilliance, and that will make the pictures coming out of it so much more vibrant. Add in a stunning multimedia player, WiFi, HSDPA and built-in GPS, and the end result is that the Sony Ericsson C905 is one of the best in the world. Is it better than the LG Renoir? Well, other than the touchscreen on the LG Renoir, they’re pretty evenly matched, so in this case, it really is a case of buying with your heart!
