September 27th, 2011 2 comments

Camera phones have metamorphosed the way we see, perceive and recollect the fleeting everyday life. Owing to its portability, compactness and multitasking capabilities, camera phones have gradually overshadowed the utility of the traditional camera. And camera phones these days are not mere imaging devices but have literally evolved into digital studios!

The upward trend in the sales chart of mobile phones with camera capabilities has been simply phenomenal. Brilliant high-resolution display, top notch image management softwares, multitude of sharing options – shutterbugs couldn’t have been more delighted. Just how many bloggers blog about camera phones – news, reviews, rumours, ratings etc – itself would make for some interesting stats.

The figures released by Flickr shows that Camera Mobile Phones from Nokia and Sony Ericsson are the most popular among users and the K750i constantly features as the numero uno. The imaging prowess of the CyberShot K800i from Sony Ericsson has been a visual revelation. Excellent colour saturation, crisp detailing and the inclusion of auto and macro focus have boosted the popularity of the CyberShot Series.

The multimedia heavy N-Series phones from Nokia too are hugely popular. The technological expertise of the N-Series family – the N73 & N93 in particular – gives you comprehensive imaging solutions. The branding with Carl-Zeiss optics was a masterstroke as it has reinforced the brand value of Nokia. Having trailed in the race so far, LG have recently announced their partnership with Schneider-Kreuznach and their forthcoming handsets will feature the German company’s world leading lenses.

Samsung’s SGH-D900, LG’s KG920 and the SL91 from BenQ-Siemens also deserve mention. The Nokia N95 and the LG KG920 sport 5 megapixel cameras and the Samsung SCH-B600 is loaded with a colossal 10 megapixel shooter. The future will see camera phones with incremental technological advancement. Stay alert, shoot sharp.
